The Role

What you'll be doing

SweatWorks is looking for a Tech Lead (Python + AWS) to guide the architecture, development, and delivery of backend and cloud‑based solutions powering our clients’ digital platforms.

This leadership role combines hands‑on development with technical mentorship and calls for a strategic mindset to drive engineering best practices, scalability, and performance. You’ll partner closely with our engineering, product, and design teams to deliver secure, efficient, and high‑impact experiences across multiple digital ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) and AWS infrastructure.
  • Drive cloud design decisions around performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Mentor and support engineers across projects to ensure technical quality and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements and timelines.
  • Lead code reviews, pair programming sessions, and problem‑solving initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement tools for CI/CD, monitoring, and automation.
  • Participate in architecture design reviews and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicate daily with U.S.‑based team members and stakeholders.

Your skills

What we require

  • BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical lead role
  • Strong expertise in Python and its web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django)
  • Proven experience architecting and deploying applications on AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Solid knowledge of microservices architecture and API design (REST, GraphQL)
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - confortable leading technical discussions and presenting solutions.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken).

Will be a plus

  • Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, or event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS, SQS).
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code and container orchestration (EKS, Fargate)
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies or integration with mobile and web platforms
  • Interest in mentoring and helping teams grow technically
