The Role
You are a seasoned Senior DevOps Engineer who enjoys owning the full lifecycle of modern cloud platforms and seeing your work make a real impact. In this role, you will lead the design, build, and maintenance of a robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure that powers our products, while collaborating closely with a small, friendly engineering team that values autonomy, clean engineering practices, and continuous improvement.
This isn’t “just another website” role. You’ll be building a greenfield solution where the real value is the integration layer: designing and implementing the backend and infrastructure that move data, trigger pipelines, and power the metrics our client will see on the front end. The website is just the window; what you build behind it is the engine that makes everything work.
If you’re excited about joining the SweatWorks team to help build a new client project from the ground up, and you’re available to come on board from January 2026, we’d love to start the new year building great things together.
What You'll be doing
Owning the full lifecycle of the cloud infrastructure on AWS, from design and implementation to ongoing optimization and reliability.
Building and evolving secure, scalable, and highly available platforms that power the applications and engineering teams.
Collaborating closely with developers to streamline delivery, improve deployment speed, and enhance observability and security across environments.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain AWS-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform), with proper state management and drift detection.
Architect secure VPCs, networking, security groups, IAM roles and policies (least-privilege), load balancers, and containerized workloads on ECS Fargate/EC2 and ECR.
Create and own CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) to build Docker images, manage environment configurations and secrets, and support branch-based deployment strategies.
Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting using CloudWatch and other observability tools to ensure system health and rapid incident response.
Champion engineering best practices around Git workflows, security, and container security, and act as a go-to partner for the wider engineering team.
Your skills
Strong DevOps mindset with a passion for automation, reliability, and developer experience.
Deep hands-on experience with AWS core services such as ECS, ECR, VPC, ALB, S3, EC2, SNS, SQS, and CloudFront.
Solid expertise with Docker (including multi-stage builds and image optimization) and container-centric architectures.
Comfortable working with GitFlow or similar branching strategies, and collaborating in cross-functional, remote-friendly teams.
Confident communicator in English, able to work effectively with international stakeholders.
What We require
5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS, ideally for containerized applications.
Proven track record of building and maintaining fully automated CI/CD pipelines (preferably with GitHub Actions) for multiple environments.
Expert-level knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform) and secure cloud networking and IAM design.
Strong focus on security, including VPC, IAM, and container security best practices and image scanning.
Excellent English skills for daily collaboration, documentation, and async communication.
Will be a plus
Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure or GCP) and Kubernetes (EKS or self-managed clusters).
Knowledge of serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway) and FinOps practices for cost optimization.
Familiarity with additional CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, Azure DevOps) and infrastructure testing (Terratest, AWS CDK, Pulumi).
Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell, and experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
Hands-on work with advanced monitoring and security tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK/Splunk, APM, Snyk, Trivy, Aqua, Vault/Secrets Manager) and exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA.
Previous experience working in globally distributed teams, navigating time zones and cultures, and collaborating effectively in a fully remote, international environment.
